Metroploitan Ministries Partnership School
General Information - Volunteering
Metropolitan Ministries Partnership Elementary School is fortunate to have several volunteers who work quietly behind the scenes to help with day-to-day school operations. Such volunteers are invaluable to our faculty and staff in promoting their classroom efforts. Metropolitan Ministries Partnership School offers several opportunities for parents/guardians and community members to be involved. Below is just an abbreviated list of how you too can get involved:
Classroom/Teacher Assistant - many teachers would be thrilled to have an extra pair of hands to assist with tasks like working on bulletin boards or assisting in special projects.
Chaperone - a popular volunteer activity and one that is frequently requested by classroom teachers. Assist faculty and staff as an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands in order to keep students safe while attending off campus field trips or school sponsored events on campus.
Committee Member - extend your talents and skills to a variety of school committees such as PTA or School Advisory Council.
Gardening - we strive to have our school gardens and grounds look as good on the outside as the events that are occurring on the inside. If you are a volunteer with a "green thumb" this may be the perfect role for you.
Photo copying for teachers - the list of teacher duties is ever-growing, yet the number of hours in a day remains the same. Aid teachers by taking one "to do" of their daily list, allowing them the opportunity to concentrate on providing students the highest academic rigor possible.
Lead small group work - work with small groups of students on tasks which have been identified and planned by the teacher. This may include helping with math functions, doing science experiments, or working on literacy skills.
Reading aloud - reading literacy is essential to survival in today's society. Serve as a model, and mentor by reading aloud to students in the classroom or be a listener and coach to those struggling to read.
Tutoring a student - volunteer to help students with a variety of subjects while serving as a role model and positive life example. Leave a lasting impression while helping a student build academic skills to reach new heights.
